Les fabriques sont des éléments constructifs qui devaient évoquer des vestiges antiques, des atmosphères exotiques ou des ambiances bucoliques.
La construction de ponts et de grottes en faisait partie.
L'utilisation de ce type de fabriques dans l'art du jardin se situe
au début du XIXe siècle dans la zone de transition, entre le style paysager anglais
et le jardin romantique, caractérisée par une recherche d'équilibre et d'harmonie.

Par mesure d'hygiène, le puits fonctionnait avec une pompe aspirante.

"Romantische" brug en put

Het gebruik van dit soort bouwwerken in de tuinarchitectuur situeert zich in het begin van de negentiende eeuw tijdens de overgangsfase van de Engelse landschapsarchitectuur naar de romantische tuin en wordt gekenmerkt door het streven naar evenwicht en harmonie.

Het put werkte met een zuigpomp, want het gebruik van een emmer was niet hygiënisch!

"Romantic" bridge and well

The use of this type of building in the art of gardening is historically situated at the beginning of the 19th century in the period of transition, between the English landscape style and the romantic garden, characterized by a research between balance and harmony. The buildings are constructive elements which were to evoke ancient vestiges, exotic or bucolic ambiences. The construction of bridges and caves were part of it.

The well worked with a suction pump, the use of a bucket was not hygienic!
